Technical Assistance GrantIn 2001, Glenn Springs Holdings funded a Technical Assistance Program (TAP) grant to hire a technical advisor to help area residents understand the technical and environmental implications of the ongoing Copper Basin Project. Information generated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and Glenn Springs Holdings, Inc. is often highly technical, and providing the community with concise, easy to understand information is an invaluable service. The Technical Advisor will assist the Copper Basin Museum in educating the public and provide feedback on technical aspects of the ongoing Copper Basin cleanup and restoration. The advisor is expected to interpret technical documents, review work plans, attend meetings, make presentations and prepare reports during the response activities conducted at the site. The advisor also serves as a public information officer for the project to increase awareness and promote community interest and participation in the cleanup process, public safety and the environment. In early 2002, Ken Rush, Curator of the Ducktown Basin Museum, announced the Museum Board's selection of Charles Ferst to serve as Technical Advisor. Mr. Ferst is president of the Knoxville-based firm, Strata Environmental Services, Inc.
