Restricting Access to Physical Hazards
Fencing
GSHI completed an extensive fencing project to control access to existing and potential mine collapses, and other physical hazards on the site. More than eight kilometers (5 miles) of chain link fence, specially constructed to withstand the acidic environment, was installed to restrict public access. Four shafts were also filled to reduce safety hazards.
