Who We AreGlenn Springs Holdings, Inc. (GSHI), located in Ducktown, Tennessee, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum Corporation. The 99 employees of GSHI include dedicated teams of scientists, engineers and managers passionate about restoring and preserving the environment. GSHI was created in the early 1990s to manage property restoration for Occidental Petroleum and lands once held by other companies that were later acquired by Occidental. The Copper Basin Mining Site is one such area inherited by Occidental, and is the single, largest reclamation project in the southeastern United States. Using advanced technical and environmentally-sound methods, lands once degraded by "unenlightened" mining and industrial activities are being restored to support wildlife. Ongoing testing by GSHI and area government agencies monitor the project's progress. Glenn Springs representatives also stress the company's commitment to good corporate citizenship. For example, a contributions committee was established to oversee community involvement efforts in the Copper Basin to benefit youth and education, environmental projects, historical preservation plans and programs designed to enhance the area's economy. Glenn Springs also loaned $1.6 million to save the historic rail line between Copperhill and Etowah. The train could bring many tourists to towns in the Copper Basin.
